"Warning" Normal Light Bulbs to be phase out.

 


The Government has proposed a schedule for the phase out of all inefficient normal type light bulbs.

This is just a few of the following type of light bulbs that will be discontinued and phased out between now and the end of 2011.

All the 200w, 150w, 100w, 75w, 60w, and 40w generally used normal gls light bulbs.

All the 125w, 100w, 75w, 60w, and 40w, Reflector type spot light bulbs, which is the R125, R95, RO80, R64, R20, and the R50.

All the 60w, and 40w, candle light bulbs including the golf ball light bulbs.

All the 60w, and 30w under cupboard tubular strip lighting, 221mm and 284mm light bulbs.

All the 120w,and 80w par 38 spot light bulbs.


The Government proposed schedule for phasing out all inefficient light bulbs is as follows:


By January 2008.
To stop selling all inefficient (General Lighting Service, GLS) A-shaped incandescent lamps of energy rating higher than 100W (predominantly 200W lamps and 150W lamps).


By January 2009.
To stop selling all inefficient GLS A-shaped lamps of energy rating higher than 60W (predominantly 200W lamps, 150W lamps, 100W lamps, plus some 75W lamps).


By January 2010.
To stop selling all GLS A-shaped lamps of efficacy of energy rating higher than 40W (predominantly 60W lamps).


By December 2011.
To stop selling all remaining inefficient GLS A-shaped lamps and 60W "candle" and "golf ball" lamps. (predominantly 40W and 25W A-shaped GLS bulbs, and 60W candles and golf balls lamps).


Question to ask your self.
       1/. Can I get a low energy light bulb that will fit into my light fitting?
       2/. Can I get a low energy light bulb that is the same size as the original light bulb?
       3/. Can I get a low energy light bulb that gives out the same light output as the original light bulb?
       4/. Can I get a low energy light bulb that look nice in my decorative light fitting?
       5/. Can I get a low energy light bulb that is dim able and will works with a dimmer switch?
       6/. Will the low energy light fitting take a long time to get bright?
       7/. Will the low energy light bulb get dimmer with time?
       8/. What do I do if the low energy light bulb is to big for my light fitting?
       9/. What do I do if the low energy light bulb will not fit my light fitting?
       10/. Should I buy the old style light bulbs that are going to be phased out and stock pile them?
