bulb etc and the supply voltage only..
|
|
Please enter the full load of the appliance in watts only not KW. ( 1 KW = 1000 watts ) into this box. |
The Wattage of the Appliances |
| Please enter the full nominal voltage of the appliance. This is the voltage that is stated on the lamp or appliance. |
The Voltage of the Appliance |
| Now Press the "Calculate Button".
|
|
Example: What is the correct size fuse for a 3KW ( 3000 watts) Electric Kettle.
Enter "3000" into " The Wattage of the Appliances Box" Now enter the supply voltage which in this cast is "240" into "Your Nominal Supply Voltage Box" Now press the Calculate Button. The answer is "12.5 amps". Therefore the correct size fuse found from the list below is "13 amp" in size.
The cable size must also be the correct size to carry the full load of the appliance. The circuit
protection fuse must be the weakest link of the circuit. This means that the cables, isolating
switch and all parts of the circuit must be rated higher than the protection device. If the cable was the original cable supplied with the appliance then there is no problem.
But if not then you must make sure that the cable is the correct size to carry the load required to operate that appliance. If the cable is to small then damage may be done to the cable. If in you are in any doubt whatsoever please consult a qualified electrician.
|
This is the total operating load of the appliance in Amps.
Now you know the load please select your fuse size from the list given below. But in must be the nearest higher value than the answer that was given.
For example if the answer is 10 amps then the fuse size is 13 amps and not 10 amps. |
