Nokia Mobile Phone Unlocker

I hope that the following information which is given below will be of some help to you.

What is unlocking?

Unlocking your mobile enables the phone to be used with any compatible Sim card on any network, from any country, by entering a code found via computer software. So, if you've an old handset that you want to put a new Sim card into, you may need to unlock the phone. First check whether your phone is already unlocked by inserting a Sim card from another network. If a message such as ‘Sim card restricted' appears then you need to unlock it.

What's a Sim Card?

It's the small (roughly 2cm by 1cm) microchip card that you insert into a phone when it's first set up. It provides the identity of a phone for the mobile network, so it can recognize, bill and send calls to individual customers. The Sim card is usually located behind the battery on the back of the phone. Why do mobile phone companies lock phones? Mobile companies say their phones are already heavily subsidized to entice you to buy them and they need to make up this shortfall. Yet the reality is that they want to retain your custom, not sell you the phone at reduced cost and then let you go to another network provider.

Is it illegal to unlock a phone?

No, this is a common misconception, and one the mobile phone companies aren't keen to dispel. It's important to make the distinction between unlocking and unblocking.

What is Unlocking?

This lets you use your phone, usually instantly, with any Sim card from any network is completely legal. "Unlocking is not illegal, and you can supposedly get it done at some of the smaller retailers or find out how to do it through the internet. You can also request it from Orange, who will charge approximately £30 and may make you pay the outstanding line rental on your contract." Many mobile retailers will offer to unlock a phone for you for a fee, but for most models it is possible to do it yourself for free.

What is Unblocking?      This enabling a phone to work when it's been rendered unusable after being reported lost or stolen. This is completely illegal and should not be attempted.

How to do it.

The easiest way to unlock your phone is use a site like    Trycktill,    Unlockme,    Unlock Nokiafree,    or    Unlockitfree.    These offer completely free unlocking for most Nokia phones and some other manufacturers. To find out the unlock code you'll need the IMEI code, network and the phone model. Just enter the information and the site will automatically generate an unlock code for you.

What's the IMEI code?

IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity and is a unique number given to all mobile phones, usually noted behind the battery or by typing *#06# into the handset. IMEI numbers are stored in a database containing all valid mobiles. When a phone is reported lost or stolen, this number is marked as invalid.

What info will they need?

IMEI Number,      To find your IMEI code type *#06#   into your handset, and note the number.

Network,      The network is the one you're currently on, not the one you want to change to e.g. Vodafone, Orange, 3.

Phone Make and Model     The make will be, for example, Nokia, Samsung or Ericsson. The model of your phone can usually be found on the inside, where the Sim card fits.

What to do with the code?

Enter your details and the web site will generate an unlock code specific to the model of your phone. The code will look something like this: #pw+2746763089+1#     (Nokia phones)      *2767*637#      Other makes).

Take the Sim card out of the phone and put in a different network's Sim. Enter the generated code into the phone. You may be given several codes. Try the first one to start with and if this doesn't work try the others.

How to enter the code Rather than using the regular text keys you need to use the * key if you want to produce letters as opposed to numbers. To produce a ‘p', press the * button three times within two seconds; to produce a ‘w', press the * button four times within two seconds; to produce a ‘+', press the * button twice within two seconds.

You should now get a message saying ‘phone restriction off'. You only have five attempts to enter the correct code so be extremely careful. If you've not succeeded by then, the phone will still work though you'll have to go to the network or a retailer to get it unlocked which costs a lot more (still nothing lost though). Unlocking via a cable. If you can't unlock your phone with a code or want to be able to do it for friends and family you can buy a cable on eBay or cheaper accessory web sites and download free software which should do the trick. Make sure you get the right cable for the phone!
